Sulky Petites Cross Stitch Thread Review Part 2 – 16 Count Aida

May 8, 2020March 4, 2024 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Review, Sulky, Thread

Whoops. Has it been a whole 2 months since my Sulky Petites review? Well in that blog post I mentioned I was working on a design using the threads I’d picked up. So here we are. In my initial review I show how it looks on 14 count and 28 count. Well I loved the […]

Pin Drum Cross Stitch Finishing Tutorial

May 1, 2020October 16, 2023 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

Pin drums are by no means a new type of finish. These guys have been around for ages, but mostly among the more traditional cross stitch communities. There’s a few tutorials out there already, and I pulled from several of them when I put together my first pin drum. As always, there’s no single ‘right’ […]

Beads: Accenting your Cross Stitch Projects with flair

April 24, 2020December 16, 2025 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Tips, Tutorial

Why Beads? There’s a few different reasons you might decide to add beads to your project. The most common reason being the pattern called for it. But that isn’t always the case! There are plenty of designers out there that love to incorporate beads into their designs. You’ve likely seen some Mirabilia or Châtelaine  designs […]

Switch Dock Cover : Cross Stitch Finishing Technique

April 10, 2020March 28, 2024 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

I hope everyone’s enjoying Animal Crossing! I’m having a lot of fun with it, personally. Still mad that they waited so long to announce the special edition Switch, though. Fun fact: When the Switch first came out, I refused to buy one and spent a good two and a half years without one. Specifically because […]

Flatfold No-Glue Cross Stitch Finishing Tutorial

March 20, 2020October 26, 2025 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

I’ve been wanting to make a flatfold for a while now, and I’ve looked up all manner of tutorials for it. While I’ve found several, and in several different languages, they all seem to be based on slathering your project with glue. If you’d prefer a no-sew tutorial, I loosely followed the one by Twisted […]

I haven't had much time for personal projects, but I haven't had much time for personal projects, but I did start a quilt project. It's a triangle quilt! I only have a couple rows done so far. But it's pretty slow going since I'm doing it all by hand!

Why? Why not? It'd be a lot faster doing it on the machine, but I prefer to take my time with it as I use it as a way to relax after a stressful day at work. Without feeling like just more 'work' for my stitchy business. This one's just for me.

And social media posts, apparently. But mostly me.

I sometimes get comments about the lil bonus stick I sometimes get comments about the lil bonus stickers that come with my bobbin/thread drop labels. And I know some people don't like getting 'extras' with their Etsy orders as they can feel wasteful. But these lil stickers actually have a very important purpose! Peel testing.

If I try to test peel the little tiny bobbin stickers I run the risk of pulling the sticker entirely off since they're so small (and not being able to get them back on exactly right), or getting a fingerpint on the adhesive and making it less sticky when you go to use them on your bobbins. The floss drop labels are a lil larger, but are still finnicky and if i messed it up I'd have to reprint the whole sheet.

So instead I use the bonus stickers every few pages to test and make sure my blades are still sharp enough to cut fully through the sticker layer. Or with a fresh blade, making sure it's not cutting through the bottom layer.

Printing the set labels for the back of the packages also allow me to test, but since they print 15 at a time I don't need to reprint them very often. And while misprints can sometimes used as tests, they're nowhere near as common as mis-cuts. which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid!

Instead, I have a series of 8 adorable cross stitch themed stickers drawn by @zin_things, and I include one with every sticker set you get! :) And because they're a lil larger I can peel part of one of them to make sure it's separating properly, then stick it back down.

This does mean they're the same matte print that you can write on like the labels, so they're not weatherproof. But still a fun way to decorate a bobbin box! (though mine only get the misprints/miscuts usually 🤣)
In this month's episode of 'wtf do I DO with these In this month's episode of 'wtf do I DO with these now', here's some older cross stitch designs that have been sitting in my stash for ages.
Do I just plop them in a frame/hoop?
Do I make them into like, lil sachet bags and fill them with potpourri?
I don't have a ton of extra room around them, so I'd have to add fabric to do anything fun.

But how would you finish these?

This month's article is all about biscornu! But no This month's article is all about biscornu! But not how to make them -- there's already a tutorial for that on my site (and in video!). But instead, how to embellish them and make them your own~! Whether that be festive tassels, cute charms or beads, fancy buttons, or anything in between.

Hopefully you can use it as an inspiration board of sorts to get some ideas of how you can decorate your biscornu to stand out from the crowd. So check it out over at Sirithre.com

Got more fun ideas? Leave them in the comments to help inspire people! :)
