Biscornu Embellishments – How To Bedazzle Your Biscs

June 6, 2026July 13, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish

I love making biscornu. I’ve got a whole basket full of the things. Some end up as pincushions, others hang out on my christmas tree or as seasonal decor. There’s even a few that work out as lil tiny pillows to hold rings and things. That said, the majority of my biscornu are pretty plain […]

Hoop Finish Your Cross Stitch

August 16, 2025May 10, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

I’ve been posting monthly tutorials on this site for SIX YEARS now. And before that on old blogs or via videos. So how is it I’ve never done an article on the hoop finish? It’s arguably the most iconic cross stitch finish and one of the easiest to do. But the truth is, I don’t […]

Block Finish Tutorial: Free Standing Cross Stitch Ornaments

July 12, 2025April 26, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

This is a cross stitch finish I’ve been wanting to try myself for ages, and I’ve quietly hoarded any useful styrofoam blocks I’ve received in shipments for years now. Well it’s about time I get around to it, so let’s try out a block finish together! If you like the mushroom-themed stitches I’m making into […]

Quaker Ball Deep Dive: Cross Stitch Finishing Techniques

November 16, 2024May 10, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

Back in 2022 I did a Stitch-A-Long for my very own faerie themed ‘Quaker Ball’ design. And I’ve been meaning to write this article ever since! Today, I not only want to go over how to assemble one of these, but also the origins of this technique, where to find designs, as well as how […]

Square Flat Ornament: Cross Stitch No Glue Finishing Tutorial

October 12, 2024May 29, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

It’s time to revisit this flat ornament tutorial! A while ago I put together a step-by-step featuring a round flat ornament. Though the assembly concepts are the same, a lot of you reached out asking about making square ones, or even other shapes. Plus it’s been nearly FOUR YEARS since I wrote that one, so […]

Biscornu Bottoms: Use Up Those Fabric Scraps

April 12, 2024April 26, 2024 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

I don’t usually do anything special for my bicornu bottoms. Typically it’s just a blank piece of the same fabric I stitched the top with. Maybe something small in the corners. But as they tend to sit on my desk as pin cushions I don’t want much on the backside that will just be hidden […]

Cross Stitch Gift Card Stocking Tutorial

December 15, 2023May 10, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

What’s a Gift Card Stocking? Ok, first off. What is a gift card stocking anyway? It’s pretty much what it sounds like. A Christmas stocking like you would put on your mantle and fill with goodies for the holiday. But small sized just large enough for a gift card. A mini stocking. You can sew […]

Bell Pull or Wall Hanging – Cross Stitch Finishing Tutorial

November 2, 2023May 10, 2026 Siri0Tagged Finish, Tutorial

Bell Pulls are such an interesting finish that we don’t see referenced as often anymore. Even when we do, stitchers are often unaware of their history and they are now just known for being a long thin wall hanging. So let’s discuss the origins of the bell pull and then talk about how to make […]

Here's a few more views of my office that didn't f Here's a few more views of my office that didn't fit in yesterday's carousel post.
I'll be putting together some lists in my Amazon Storefront for some of the stuff I used in this space if you'd like to recreate some of it. But feel free to ask about anything specific!

There's still a lot I want to do in here. It's always going to be a work in progress that evolves slowly over time. Just keep adding those small details and occasionally look back at old photos to see how far you've come.

I've now been in this office for two full years (as of the 5th, technically). I wonder how different this space will look like next year!

Probably at the very least more vines and moss as I still have several bags of the stuff 😂Oh and a big mirror. I'm planning to hang behind the sofa space. But that's gonna be a whole project of its own tbh.

Once again though, please don't compare my stash to your own. This is years of bargain hunting, thrifting, inheriting, being gifted things. While I've definitely accumulated a lot of stuff, almost nothing is ever purchased at full price.

Except for all the art, of course. Like all the small prints from being in @michelle_coffee 's Patreon for a while, several prints from @jacquelindeleon throughout the room, as well as a couple by @simz.art and singles from a number of different artists. It's SO nice to finally have art up on the walls. It makes such a difference in a space. And really helps inspire and get those creative juices flowing. (gross)

September 5th marks 2 years in this house, so I wa September 5th marks 2 years in this house, so I wanted to take a moment and share with you how things have evolved over the last couple years.

Please don't compare my stash to your own. This is years of bargain hunting, inheriting, being gifted things. While I've definitely accumulated a lot of stuff, most of my business earnings go towards bills and debts. 😅

There's still SO much I want to do in here. Like tidying up that mess under my photography workbench. Adding lighting to the storage area, redecorating the stairwell leading to my basement office, and of course -- more art! That's the biggest difference between Year 1 and 2. I've been able to spend time decorating just for aesthetics rather than just trying to get things functional.

You can't even see all of my office in these photos! I'll have to do a full video tour at some point, but I'm not ready to do so quite yet. Hopefully it won't take me a whole 'nother year to get comfortable with this space, though.

Another month, another ort jar update. Not much re Another month, another ort jar update.
Not much really changes at this point since I have to kinda squish it down to put more thread in there. But I do try to turn it to more interesting sections when I can.

Swipe to see how it looked last month.

August got 48 hours of cross stitching, which is an average of a little over an hour and a half every day.

Now I don't necessarily stitch every day (though I try to), so sometimes that's 3 hours, and sometimes that's none.

Still, that's a whole 6 hours more than July!

And that puts the total so far this year at 263. So I'm actually only averaging about ~32 hours a month or a little over an hour a day. But do that consistently enough and it definitely adds up!
Wow what a palette this month! These bright pinks Wow what a palette this month! These bright pinks and purples are just so beautiful together! And that lil pop of yellow and green... can't wait to show you what I'm working on!

...except I didn't actually record the process of half of it, so it's a dramatic recreation of how I did it, anyway. 🤣
