Fraying Fabric – Various Ways to Deal With It

September 13, 2025October 5, 2025 Siri0Tagged Fabric, Resource

How annoying is fraying fabric for you? Some fabrics definitely fray more than others, and some people don’t mind fraying while others can’t stand it! What do I mean by fraying? When the edge of your fabric starts to unravel or come apart while you’re trying to work with it! The good news is there’s […]

Hoop Finish Your Cross Stitch

August 16, 2025May 10, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

I’ve been posting monthly tutorials on this site for SIX YEARS now. And before that on old blogs or via videos. So how is it I’ve never done an article on the hoop finish? It’s arguably the most iconic cross stitch finish and one of the easiest to do. But the truth is, I don’t […]

Block Finish Tutorial: Free Standing Cross Stitch Ornaments

July 12, 2025April 26, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

This is a cross stitch finish I’ve been wanting to try myself for ages, and I’ve quietly hoarded any useful styrofoam blocks I’ve received in shipments for years now. Well it’s about time I get around to it, so let’s try out a block finish together! If you like the mushroom-themed stitches I’m making into […]

It’s no secret that I’m a cross stitch fiend — but I actually enjoy a lot of different crafts and am always looking to try new things! And yet I always try and tie it back into cross stitch somehow. Whether that be sewing Q-snap cozies, making beaded scissor fobs, or getting creative with how […]

Perforated Paper for Cross Stitch – How To Get Started

April 12, 2025September 30, 2025 Siri0Tagged Resource

Perforated paper isn’t talked about enough! A while ago I did a deep dive on plastic canvas and all the different things you can do with it for cross stitch. And it’s about time I did something similar for perforated paper. I don’t have nearly as much experience with it as I did with plastic […]

Assisi Embroidery: Learn With Me! Plus Free Pattern

March 15, 2025April 6, 2025 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch

It’s time again to learn a new craft similar to my main craft, cross stitch! Last year (2024) in March I tried out Hardanger for the first time, and now I thought it’d be fun to try something new again. This time around I landed on Assisi Embroidery, something I only learned about while researching […]

Embroidery Thread Inventory Checklists

February 8, 2025March 25, 2025 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Organization, Resource

The longer you spend in the cross stitch hobby, the more thread you just end up collecting over time. And inevitably you end up buying duplicates of colors because you didn’t know you already had them. Or because you couldn’t find the one you had. If that sounds familiar, it might be time to take […]

Beaded Scissor Fobs: How to Make Your Own

January 11, 2025January 24, 2025 Siri0Tagged Scissor Fobs, Tutorial

Today I wanted to go over how I make my beaded scissor fobs. This is just one way to do things, and the way I’ve found works for me. But feel free to adjust for your own needs as well. If you don’t want to go out and buy all the materials in bulk to […]

My 2026 Floss Adventure Vlog is now up! I had a bl My 2026 Floss Adventure Vlog is now up! I had a blast trying out Sashiko, even if I did some things 'wrong'. Either way I ended up with two very cute projects.

The video is up now, but I'm also putting together a written version for the website for easy reference including what resources I used to make these.

But remember! Floss Adventures don't have to be limited to June! If you ever feel like experimenting in a new craft but don't want to buy new materials, I have a whole list of crafts that use embroidery thread ready for you complete with links to tutorials and free patterns for you to try. I haven't had much time for personal projects, but I haven't had much time for personal projects, but I did start a quilt project. It's a triangle quilt! I only have a couple rows done so far. But it's pretty slow going since I'm doing it all by hand!

Why? Why not? It'd be a lot faster doing it on the machine, but I prefer to take my time with it as I use it as a way to relax after a stressful day at work. Without feeling like just more 'work' for my stitchy business. This one's just for me.

And social media posts, apparently. But mostly me.

I sometimes get comments about the lil bonus stick I sometimes get comments about the lil bonus stickers that come with my bobbin/thread drop labels. And I know some people don't like getting 'extras' with their Etsy orders as they can feel wasteful. But these lil stickers actually have a very important purpose! Peel testing.

If I try to test peel the little tiny bobbin stickers I run the risk of pulling the sticker entirely off since they're so small (and not being able to get them back on exactly right), or getting a fingerpint on the adhesive and making it less sticky when you go to use them on your bobbins. The floss drop labels are a lil larger, but are still finnicky and if i messed it up I'd have to reprint the whole sheet.

So instead I use the bonus stickers every few pages to test and make sure my blades are still sharp enough to cut fully through the sticker layer. Or with a fresh blade, making sure it's not cutting through the bottom layer.

Printing the set labels for the back of the packages also allow me to test, but since they print 15 at a time I don't need to reprint them very often. And while misprints can sometimes used as tests, they're nowhere near as common as mis-cuts. which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid!

Instead, I have a series of 8 adorable cross stitch themed stickers drawn by @zin_things, and I include one with every sticker set you get! :) And because they're a lil larger I can peel part of one of them to make sure it's separating properly, then stick it back down.

This does mean they're the same matte print that you can write on like the labels, so they're not weatherproof. But still a fun way to decorate a bobbin box! (though mine only get the misprints/miscuts usually 🤣)
In this month's episode of 'wtf do I DO with these In this month's episode of 'wtf do I DO with these now', here's some older cross stitch designs that have been sitting in my stash for ages.
Do I just plop them in a frame/hoop?
Do I make them into like, lil sachet bags and fill them with potpourri?
I don't have a ton of extra room around them, so I'd have to add fabric to do anything fun.

But how would you finish these?
