Pricing Your Cross Stitch for Commissions and Sales

October 9, 2020June 29, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Pricing

Ohhh boy. I’ve been putting off this blog for some time. Pricing is a fairly controversial topic, and there’s a few different ways to go about it. For the sake of this not being too long, I will be discussing only finished cross stitch projects, NOT patterns. That’s… a whole ‘nother can of worms that […]

Speed Test: How to Measure Your Average Cross Stitch Rate and Why

September 25, 2020June 29, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Resource

This is probably going to be a long post, so let’s start this off by immediately saying this is NOT about whether you are fast or slow. None of that matters. You should not compare yourself to others and/or get upset at yourself for stitching slower due to injury, mental health, multitasking, etc. That’s not […]

Kool-Aid Dye – Coloring Cross Stitch Stitch Fabric At Home

September 11, 2020June 29, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, dyeing, Fabric

Last month I posted about how I colored some aida with tea! It turned out pretty well, actually. I also dyed some fabric with Kool-Aid though, so I wanted to document my results with that as well. 🙂 As before, This is not a tutorial. I am not an expert and have little experience dyeing […]

ORTs – What Do You DO With Your Leftover Cross Stitch Thread?

September 4, 2020April 17, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Organization, Resource

If you’ve been around the cross stitch or embroidery community for a while, you’ve probably come across the term ORT. But what are ORTs and why do people keep them around? According to the dictionary an ort is “a scrap or remainder of food from a meal.” ; so in stitching terms it’s the scrap […]

3D Plastic Canvas Poseable Cross Stitch Butterfly Tutorial

August 21, 2020July 19, 2025 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Finish, Tutorial

I’ve had the idea to make a poseable 3D cross stitch for a long time now. Over a year ago I designed some patterns based on the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild butterflies thinking that’d be the perfect thing to turn into a hairclip or pin. I drew them at an angle though […]

Dyeing Cross Stitch Fabric at Home – With Tea!

August 14, 2020June 29, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, dyeing, Fabric

July’s Pixel Stitch RPG quest was about dyeing some fabric. This is something I’ve been meaning to try for years and just never got around to. It still feels daunting, but seeing everyone else give it a try for the first time really helped inspire others to try. Including myself! This is not a tutorial. […]

August 7, 2020June 29, 2026 Siri0Tagged Cross stitch, Review, Tips

This week I wanted to answer some common questions about working with glow in the dark thread. There’s a lot to cover, so I apologize in advance if this ends up being a long post. If there’s anything I missed though, feel free to ask! I’m always happy to answer your questions. Thread Brands For […]

If you’re expecting some of those fancy super aesthetic Bujo spreads here, you may be sorely disappointed. On the other hand, you may simply be here for layout ideas. You may even appreciate representation of bullet journals made by mere mortals such as myself. Whichever camp you’re in, I hope you find some inspiration here […]

Is this all of them? Maybe. I looked high and low and other than some kitchen scissors I think they're all here.

I definitely need more, though.
I can't be the only one collecting cute embroidery scissors, though. Is this normal? How many do you have? 🤔

Ah my true love; variegated th reads. It's a shame Ah my true love; variegated th reads. It's a shame so many folk avoid these threads. They're just so beautiful and fun to work with. But it can certainly be worth getting used to working with them!

I've got a whole article on my websites on tips for working with these threads as well as examples of types of cross stitch patterns where you can easily substitute in some colorful threads.

Have you worked with these types of colors? Have any tips for folks? Leave 'em in the comments for others to see! :)

This month's article is all about combining cross This month's article is all about combining cross stitch and quilting! Whether you're quilting with your cross stitch projects or cross stitching a quilt pattern there's actually a number of different ways to combine these two crafts!

I've listed off a ton of different options for you to hopefully inspire you to combine your crafts if you're a quilter already. Or to pick up a new craft if you haven't already. 😉

Here I've shown you just two ways I've combined them in the past -- making EPP hexagons out of stitched aida and working them into a mini quilt.

And of course, cross stitching a ton of quilt squares as part of my book tracker. Each quilt square denotes a book genre, with the colors pulled from the first 100 books I read last year!

Lastly a project bag with a quilted cover! Because you can make accessories for one craft using another. 🤣

But there's a whole lot more options to choose from for your quilty stitch projects! So head on over to my website and take a look! 👀

Both the orange blossom and pineapple coconut biscornu were done around the same time and on the same scrap of fabric, but i took photos right before assembling.

Yep nothing too dramatic. But it's important to me to normalize sharing the backs whether they're neat or messy. So here they are!

Love the random little chunk taken out of that piña colada.

Speaking of yarn. Here's my latest crochet project Speaking of yarn. Here's my latest crochet project. Yep, just a water bottle cover.

I really like this yarn and how the colors work together. I wish I knew what it was. It was just a random cake of sport weight yarn I picked up from my local crafty reuse store, so it wasn't labeled or anything. If you recognize this colorway somehow, feel free to let me know.😆

I found the pattern on ravelry if you'd like to make your own;
